| Notes |
- Pedigree no.54.
m. Sarah Leppard in Bemondsey, London, Eng. when he was 30. This would ha ve been about 1840.
Came to Australia in 1849 as a convict exile. Came out on the ship "Hashem y", arriving on 9 Jun 1849.
Convict transportation to NSW effectively ceased in 1842. From 1846-49 Exi les had served part of their sentence in a penitentiary in Britian and we re granted a conditional pardon or ticket of leave on>
arrival in the colony.
Henry's trial date in Middlesex, Eng. was 10 Mar 1847. He was sentenc ed to 7 years for stealing lead.
He would have been about 39 when he came to Australia.
His wife Sarah - 30, came to Australia 11 Aug 1850 with daughter Ma ry - 7 and son Henry T. - 5.
Died in Camden aged 72 years and 14 days. He was buried on the 9 Apr 18 82 in the St. John's Churchyard at Camden.
Cause of Death listed as Senile Decay.
He is listed as living in NSW for 31 years, but it is more likely 33 years .
Informant on his death certificate was his daughter Sarah Lye.
Children listed on his death certificate are Mary, Henry, Moses and Sar ah living, and 2 males and 1 female dead. I'm guessing the female was A my G. Lock who was born in 1858 and died in 1859, (even th>
ough her parents are listed as Henry and Mary on the birth index and list ed as Henry and Sarah on the death index). One of the dead sons could be D avid Lock who died in 1881 at Camden. (Death Index 56>
68/1881).
